The Give Back Charity in Las Vegas and Gobble Gobble Give hosted their 14th annual event for the community Thanksgiving Day. Thank you for everyone doing this for the people, said stanley water bottle Marcel Ortega who attended the event with his mom. About 300 volunteers spent their Thanksgiv stanley cup ing Day at the Llama Lot in Downtown Las Vegas feeding nearly 3,000 people, many of whom are homeless. Not only did they pass out the classic Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, cranberry sauce and more, but there were several food trucks there as well. The food trucks passed out different options, such as Hibachi, all for free. We provide a place to sit down and eat and be normal and decompress and sit down and be treated human for the first time or in a long time, said Give Back Charity President Adan Van Dam. This event is much more than just about giving away free meals, volunteers handed out free bus cards, gave free hair cuts, gave away free clothing and had live music. A lot of times people dont have a moment to freshen up, to get changed, put on some new clothes, doing little tiny things like this can make a huge difference in someones life, said Tiare Dadd who volunteered her time to cut hair. Along with the free services, a sense of family was also built. That meant everything to me, said Darryl Carter who lives in his RV. I spent most of my time, well Im one of stanley cup the last people to leave here today, and I spent most of my time making friends. NASA has successfully and intentionally crashed its Double Asteroid Redirection Test DART spacecraft into an asteroid. It is part of a test to see if scientists can alter the path of the Dimorphos asteroid. The small asteroid is 525 feet wide and has an elliptical orbit aroun stanley cup d the solar system.NASA says Dimorphos is part of the binary asteroid system called Didymos. The larger Didymos asteroid is nearly a half-mile wide.NASA says it poses no threat to Earth as it is used as part of the historic test.WATCH EARLIER BROADCAST: Scientists want to know if a spacecraft can deflect an asteroid for planetary defense.NASA said that the spacecrafts camera will return one image per second back to Earth. As the spacecraft approached the asteroid, NASA engineers said we would know the impact was successful, as the transmission of images stopped suddenly. Just as engineers expected, as the craft approached the space object the asteroid appeared larger and larger in a rough grey transmitted image. Amazing detail could be seen, of a rocky surface. At around 7:15 p.m. ET on Monday NASA s broadcast showed the moment of impact, as the transmission was knocked out, indicating that the craft has made impact with the asteroid. The stanley cup DART craft made a 6.8 million-mile journey to the space object.
